What type of fishing charter should i go on ON the Oregon coast?
within the first 2 weeks of july i will be heading out to the Oregon coast. Im hoping to book a fishing charter. i have the options of Salmon, Halibut, Tuna, Bottom fishing or sturgeon. Which should i do as in which will i have the best chance of catching something in the first 2 weeks of july? Also does any one know of any good lakes/rivers or streams for fishing in Oregon?
Best chance of catching something: bottom fishing. With the others there’s a chance that they won’t be there, or won’t bite that day. (Tuna and salmon are migratory, and July is kind of early for tuna in Oregon.) And four months in advance, there’s no way of predicting much of anything. Bottom fish are less affected by daily changes in the conditions.
If you can wait until a few days before your trip, you’ll have a better idea what’s happening. Generally the boats will be going out after what’s biting.
