Best panfish hook removal?

hey guys, what is best and easiest way to remove a hook from, let say a blue gills mouth. I would regularily just use a small hand towel to grip the fish, then pliers to remove the hook. Although I am getting my grandfather into the sport because he lives on a lake, he loves to fish although he has some arthiritus in his hands, making it difficult for him to remove a hook. Any solutions, thanks in ahead.
also do you need a swivel for a rig with a pencil float and 1/32 oz jig

I suggest you remove the barb from the hook, this is done by simply flattening it with some pliers. This is much better for the fish and is very easy to take out. When reeling in the fish make sure to keep constant pressure on it to avoid it from slipping out. Circle hooks are also much easier to take out. But please do not hold a fish with a towel it removes their slime coat which is what protects them, if this is removed they will die. Just wet your hands and grab them. There are also tools which can help you take the hook out.
