How to go about restoring an old powerboat?

Hi all,
I want to restore my grandfather’s old (~1977) 16′ starcraft outboard pleasure boat. It needs a new engine, trailer, floor, paint, front bow seats and probably some electrical work. I would also like to add a trolling motor and some pedestal fishing seats. I would like to change the wooden floor to some sort of composite so I don’t have to worry about it rotting. The hull of the boat is in great condition. I figure a 50hp motor will be all that I need cause I will mostly be fishing with it. Where can I learn about how to do this and where do I get the parts?
Thanks!

Would you restore a car if “the frame was in great condition?”
Probably not. Remember: You can buy a new car from a dealer showroom for 25000.00 If you buy the same car at the parts counter, it will cost you 10 times that, and you will have to put it together yourself. The same is true with boats. Unless this project has some overwhelming sentimental value for you, then the best advice would be to sell the hull for scrap, and start out with a new package, or a good used.
