Confused about fishing line test?
When they say a fishing lines test is 15lbs how can someone catch a 50lb fish when the breaking point is averaged around 15lbs?
lonewolf: so youre saying if im fishing from a pier with 20lb test and catch a 50lb fish, lifting it up to the pier would snap the line?

Line test wont actually break at the point of what the pack says, its a couple of pounds stronger. And yes you can use 15lb test and catch a 50lb fish. If your drag is set correctly then the fish will just run line out of your reel with out actually putting 15lbs of pressure on your line, you will just have to fight the fish until it wears its self out. And if your using 20lb test you will not be able to lift a 50lb fish up the pier, that will definitely snap your line. Good luck fishin’!
