Should I let my 6 year old eat cakes?
My 6 year old is in excellent health. She is nice and slim and very active and she doesn’t eat any meat. She eats dairy and fish and a lot of brown rice and vegetables. She has taken an interest in eating cakes. I don’t buy junk food but when I pick her up from school she says that she is hungry and wants me to buy her cupcakes or Swiss rolls.
I don’t want to get her into the habit of eating cake all the time when she is hungry.
Today I purchased a box of zebra cakes. She asked me for them and I rarely buy stuff like this. I don’t want to deprive her of cakes and sweets because I think it is part of being a kid. I think that it is okay just not in excess. She hasn’t had a cavity to date.
What is your take on this?
Any advice?
Just give her the cake. The reason why she has developed an interest is because cake is delicious and you haven’t let her have any! When she wants to eat immediately after school just give her fruit or veggie snacks.
