Fishing for catfish this weekend. help please!?
im heading to the chattahoochee river this weekend to catch some catfish. (hopefully) what gear should i use? gear as in bait, line, hooks, etc…. how to set my pole up and things like that. any help will be great! thanks.
OK, For a typical catfish catch, whether it be from the shore of a lake, a riverbank, or a pier, 25 lbs test braid, 12 lbs test fluorocarbon leader, and a treble or single hook with the bait. Typically there’s an egg sinker on the braid and the leader is attached with a barrel swivel.
Bait: Chicken livers, night crawlers, bluegill (as cutbait)
Other stuff: A drop shot rig is also effective if your bait sinks and you want it off the bottom a bit. But keep in mind that if the water is relatively still, it’s a lot easier for the cat to find your bait if you move the bait, this leaves a trail in the water for it to follow. hope this helped, have fun this weekend
