Got a fishing w/ out license ticket in San Diego,CA $475 Should I go to court or just pay it?
Don’t have a license yet. waiting until I become a resident. Price drops drastically! Just moved from NJ. Any Advise???If I go to court will the price drop a little?? Got a speeding ticket and it was only $220. Its not my year!
What do you mean “waiting until you become a resident”? If you are 18 or older you are a resident of California as soon as you are present in the state with the intent to remain permanently. There is no minimum length of residence to get a resident fishing license (unlike, for example, paying resident tuition). At any rate, the difference between $117 and $44 is about 1/6 the cost of this ticket. You could try to convince the judge to impose a lower fine, but you should be aware that most of the cost is various assessments added to the fine–the base fine here is probably $100. Even a $20 fine will wind up costing over $100.
