Whats a good spinning reel combo for shark fishing?

I’m looking for a good spinning reel combo for shark fishing in the St. Pete Beach, FL area. The fishing would be from beach or pier. What reel and rod would you recommend? Any suggestions on line also? I definitely am looking for a reel that can hold alot of line. I’m also looking for any advice on rig set up as well. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I’ve got some experience shark fishing with a spinning reel.
My personal set-up is a heavy class ugly stik rod with the largest Penn captiva live-liner they make (CLL6000) spooled with 65lb PowerPro and i’ll tell you, i’ve pushed that reel to the edge, and got lucky. It handled beautifully, but i’ll be upgrading to the Penn Slammer Live Liner (760L) here shortly, just to be safe.

The reason I like the Live Liners, is because I can heave out a chunk of bluefish on a circle hook, engage the secondary drag and wait for that fish to take it while having the bail closed and ready. Then when he does take it, and I know he’s got it in his mouth, i’ll flip the switch over to the preset primary drag, and he sets the hook on himself!

A medium weight ugly stik tiger rod ($60), a Penn slammer Live-Liner 760L ($100-$170 on ebay) spooled with 65lb PowerPro, a 7′ 80lb steel leader with a 6/0-10/0 wide-gap circle hook and depending on tide/current, the appropriate weight, and you’ll be set for anything in the bay area. Remember, your fishing off a pier, or beach in Tampa Bay, you aren’t targeting Jaws here. Just the occasional black tip or, if your lucky, a monster lemon or bull!

You obviously don’t have to go with the equpiment I say, im just sharing what I feel will work for your area, and i’ve found works for me. But with what i’ve listed above, look to spend around $250, (which isn’t too bad for a whole ready to fish set-up; rod, reel, line, tackle, etc…) more or less depending if you find it cheaper online, etc.
